Curriculum & Program Development
I help schools meet their commitment to educating the whole child by enhancing the school’s effectiveness in addressing students’ sexual and gender identity development. Together with members of the school community, I design a comprehensive program that is integrated into the general curriculum and builds in sync with the students’ development.
Working with school administrators and staff, I guide the development of campus-wide policy that advances the school’s mission and defines roles, procedures and protocols to optimize successful program implementation.
I present lessons directly to students in the classroom as well as mentoring teachers by co-facilitating lessons with the classroom teacher. Cross-age mentoring coordinated with classroom teachers enhances the learning of older students as they teach and mentor younger children about the issues they are covering in their human development program.
Staff Training & Teacher Support
I support staff with professional development that provides them with the knowledge and information necessary for creating curriculum based on the National Guidelines for Sexuality Education K-12, sample lessons, and effective strategies for individual and group instruction.
I also provide teaching staff with mentoring and on-going individual consultation as needed throughout the year.
Parent Education & Support
Parent education sessions equip parents for their role as primary sexuality educators of their own children and prepare them as partners in the school program.
Phone, email and in –person consultation throughout the year is offered to parents and other family members and caregivers.
